Overview

This course focuses on the main concepts of individual, family and community in relation to their health needs, beliefs and practices. It discusses theories on health, wellness and illness which are important components in the delivery of holistic nursing care to client. It also includes the demonstration of different nursing skills in the promotion, maintenance of health and prevention of illness for clients to reach an optimal level of health across the lifespan.

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding:

1. Describe the person as a whole.

2. Define self-concept, values in the nursing concept.

3. Knows culture & ethnicity in the nursing context.

4. Compare culture & ethnicity in the nursing context.

Mental skills:

1. Distinguishes the phases of nursing process.

2. Analyzes the cases given as an example to an actual situation.

3.Apply the nursing process to health/illness situation.

4. Explain briefly & concise the levels of care.

Scientific and professional skills:

1. Display their capabilities on performing correct procedures as learned in the skills lab.

2. Formulate SOAPIE charting and NCP, utilizing the nursing process throughout the application of clinical nursing procedures.

1.Develop their knowledge, skills and attitude (KSA) in communication.

2. Apply correctly the learned concepts for personal growth and development.
